Only severals existence, 180years back samurai doll for the boys festival day in Japan

   This is the samurai doll for the boys day festival on 5th,May,in Japan.During Edo era, A.D.1839,just 180years back, it was produced in Kanazawa city,Isikawa pref.Our city was the No2 power next to Tokugawa general,Edo shgunate in Tokyo. At the end of Edo period,there was no samurai war and peaceful world.So that the armor artisan lost their work gradually.Then they made the doll like this to make their living.

 Usually another area had the boys festival doll made of the lumber and paper.But the lord of our area was rich so that the artisan produced the doll with iron,gold leaf,good clothes and so on.So this doll on pic was very gorgeous.

   

 The above pix were the authentic samurai dolls for children of Maeda family, the lord of Kaga clan, No2 samurai aristocrat. The left is made about 350 years back during a middle Edo era.

This was presented from Mito Tokugawa family, 

shogunate branch family. They were the grand parents of the child of Maeda family.

The right is my collection, new discovery doll.

At this time Tokugawa shogunate family was the grandparents of the child who presented this doll.

Please compere the both.They are very resembled.

   The under pic is a  helmet of the helmet of doll.

"Kamon", the family emblem, was printed on it. Actually this time the lord had 4 male children who were under 10 ages.In samurai society the celebration of their coming of age was between 12-16age,around 15 ages.

 

Anyway this doll was very rare now.It was museum quality.

This type doll exists only severals in Japan.
